Rota West Harbor

Rota Harbor:

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) has designed and awarded the maintenance dredging work for the harbor.  The contractor will be working on the causeway and estimated completion is November 2008.

CPA continues to seek funding for revetment repairs and maintenance dredging needed for the Rota Harbor.  Due to the CNMI’s dropping economy, it has become difficult for CPA and the Rota legislators to allocate the money needed for the harbor.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) conducted site inspections of the harbor’s depth and have provided CPA with a support agreement for the maintenance dredging work.  CPA is anticipating executing the agreement in the near future.  The agreement consists of the ACOE awarding the project and providing construction management and project management services.  The project will be funded by a grant from FEMA and is scheduled to be completed by December 2007, depending on the execution of the agreement.
